Farm-Raised Versus Wild Caught Salmon
  1. Contrary to media reports, farm raised offers more control over environmental pollutants, due to "fish pen" placements. Pens can be moved to areas of less pollution.
  2. Farm raised offers more reliable taste due to controlled feeding thus a more consistent product year round.
  3. Farm raised offers a year round supply of salmon verses over fishing, resulting in the reduction of natural salmon stock.
  4. Due to the stability of stock, costs are reduced for the consumer.

Honey Smoked Fish Company purchases salmon from suppliers that use FDA approved colorants in their feed. Anthaxanthin, not Canthaxanthin is used by our suppliers. This is a synthetic carotenoid like natural carotene absorbed by salmon in the wild (from eating small shrimp (krill). This is very safe, and also adds the benefits of carotene to the consumer. Carotene benefits eye health.

  • Arrives in sterile, ice-gelled cases (Styrofoam) @ 32 - 38 Fahrenheit container boxes.

  • Transport from origin to our plant for processing is always monitored with temperatures less than 40 Fahrenheit.

  • All product testing is submitted to approved Government / AOAC facilities

  • Our fresh smoked salmon products has continually tested better levels of Environmental Standards  than wild caught smoked salmon using similar procedures
